Zentangle® for Kidz! The Movie
Well..."The Trailer" is more like it. My brother, Dave Steen,
animated my sketches. My son, Alex - yes, the kid in the book - wrote,
played and recorded the music. And my daughter, Lilah, (the other kid in
the book) created the original Lilah Beans. We refer to them as the
Minions. The Lilah Beans, not my children. I think Alex's music goes
perfectly with the jumping little bouncy movements of the Lilah Beans. I
admit that Alex and I would both like to learn more about animation -
particularly stop-motion paper animation - so that we could animate more
of this book. In color. And larger. If you view this film on YouTube,
it is larger and slightly better quality.

Love the trailer! A perfect vibe!
ReplyDeleteIt is just awesome. Great composition too Alex. I am hanging for the book to be available in Australia. :)
ReplyDeleteCool! How old is Alex? I LOVE his music!!!!
ReplyDeleteJUST FAB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCute video! And I'm at the CHA so I've seen the book. It's wonderful. I've been demonstrating at the Designs Originals/Fox Chapel Booth. As I'm demonstrating I pull out the 3 new books. Yours gets great comments such as "My kids will love that".
ReplyDeleteYou have a very talented family Sandy. I loved the music and the whole video and I'm looking forward to your new book. So glad it's for 'kids of all ages!!'
ReplyDeleteThanks! Alex is 13 (14 in Sept.) - he is very talented and plays lots of instruments, plays by ear, composes on GarageBand... all that. He's at Music Camp at UNH at this very moment. (My baby's in college!?)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see what's going down at CHA! (And I'd LOVE to see my book!!) I wish you had a live-feed. :-)
Tapping my feet, fingers are twitching...very groovy, congratulations to all of you!!!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Thanks to the whole family!
ReplyDeleteI have your other 3 books and am looking forward to this new one for kids. I am the Gifted and Talented Specialist at one of the local elementary schools, so I plan to introduce tangles to my students in grades 1st-5th. I believe they could be an excellent way to reinforce patterning and tessellation; encourage focusing, motor and observational skills; teach drawing; and make students aware of nature and other cultures. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteArnoldo - I look forward to seeing what your kids come up with! We no longer have a G&T program here. :-( And my son, in case you haven't figured it out yet ;-D - is a gifted kid. If you have any insights, ideas, projects, or great photos having to do with ZT and kids - I'd love to post them on the ZTforKids.com site!
