Ooooo! I'm in!

I'm so excited!!! I just found out that my art was accepted for the Doodlers Anonymous Coloring Book - Volume 4!! I don't know which of two pieces was accepted (or both?!) but it is such an honor. I own the first three volumes and the art is amazing.

I also have a journal piece coming out in the second issue of Mabel Magazine (in November). This is a beautiful new magazine... the tagline is "Making a Living • Creating a Life". And the description on their site sums it up so nicely:

"Mabel is a print magazine that is here to tell real stories about making a living and creating a life.
At Mabel, we’ll be talking about the different ways we support ourselves in the world—
stories from entrepreneurs, artists and small biz owners about how they’ve gotten where they are—
it’s not always pretty, it’s not always tidy, but it’s always beautifully real . . .  please join us!"

They are on Facebook too.

Does it seem just a little ironic to be accepted into a doodle coloring book and an elegant magazine at the same time? I don't think that I will ever figure out what my "market" or who my "audience" is.
I just love to draw stuff.

  1. Congratulations! Congratulations! (one for each magazine) Don't sell yourself short, Beez -- you don't "just draw stuff". You interpret the world through your media and share your interpretations with us, your fans, for which we are immensely grateful and also inspired. Thank you.

    1. Thanks! And that might be a better way to describe what I do... the whole "elevator speech" thing has always eluded me.
"Me? Yeh, I draw stuff." ;-)

  2. This is wonderful news. Bravo for you! On the Doodlers Anonymous page I read "We received over 1,426 drawn pages and are now beginning the process of sifting through them to narrow it down to 60." WOW! can't wait to see your piece of the next fun book.

  3. Sandy, you are truly an eclectic artist who deserves to be recognized for your contribution to the world of people who take joy in creating. Not everyone understands the power of art, and it's not our job to convince them. I'm so happy (and actually proud, since you're "one of us) for you!

  6. my opinion is that you can do anything. You're multi talented. Congrats on both magazines. I gave one of the coloring books to my eight year old grandson. I'm dealing with getting my ZENTANGLES to flow nicely. It's such a challenge for me. I get frustrated when I see all the beautiful work online. Just keep on doing what you're doing Sandy!
