Part Two: Zip Lines and "Summer Luvin'..."

Summary of the last post: climb up mountain, jump on zip line, new experiences, whooo-hooo!, crash into trees, pick pine needles out of teeth, climb up new mountain. Repeat.

I promised to let you know how the date turned out...

If you follow the zip-line analogy... here's my journal entry from last night:

Well. Now I know what THAT feels like.

  1. Yowzer. I am so sorry this is what you experienced! There are better mountains out there...better zip lines, better trees...and the fact that you are willing to test out mountains/zip lines/trees mean that you are far more likely to find the better ones, even if it takes some time, and you will appreciate them more because you have experiences to compare them to.
I'm not even sure if that makes sense, but know that I am rooting for you.

    1. You have some beautiful mountains in TN... are your trees any softer? ;-) No matter. I have a goal of spending a few weeks in TN in 2014. "Make it so!"

  3. and then..... she slid tenderly down the mighty trunk landing softly in a puddle of tears where she lay while sweet branches caressed her and stroked her soft brown hair. The tree cried softly with her until there were no more tears to cry and they sat together as thoughts about her future drifted off into space where they belong and she filled herself up with life-affirming messages of power, hope and love. And she heard the tree whisper softly in the gap between her thoughts "if it is for your highest good, my lovely, you shall have it, if it is not for your highest good, then you shall not".

    1. oh that is really nice. Almost soft porn... tree porn... maybe I should date a tree?
That makes a terrible joke. (How do you date a tree?
Cut it in half and count the rings.)
      Warned you!
Sigh. I need me some of that "highest good"!

  4. Looks like you are not on your path! ... You've talked about the letdown you feel after you put on a training class. In the past, I've felt that way, too (OK, I didn't put on training classes, but I've felt that way after a highly anticipated event). I never really thought about how to avoid it before you mentioned it, but this morning I contacted a resident expert (Google) on the subject and found out that there is a lot to be said. Create a search phrase similar to "post event letdown." I'm sure you can find more that might be helpful. ... BTW, my daughter finished the NYC Marathon, her second after Philadelphia. After Philly, I thought she was going to die. She had trained and trained, but after the race, she was physically in awful shape. Finishing this one, she was much better, but she had a really hard time walking. My reference is that post-event trauma can certainly be physically and emotionally unsettling. The only cure I know (without reading all of Google's references) is to get started on another couple of events and stagger the endings . . .

    1. Yes. I'd like to know how to distinguish between those things that I just need to STOP doing because they suck and make me feel bad... and those things that suck and make me feel bad, but I need to keep on doing...

  5. Hmmmm. Well that's not a good ending. So, get yourself up, brush yourself off and go onward and upward to the next adventure.

    1. Yes, ma'am. I'm climbing, but I'm still bleeding. At least I'm not hard to follow...

  6. You allowed yourself to be open to a relationship and that is huge! I am impressed and proud of you. If there is a next time, and I hope there is, it could be the ride of your life. Be brave!

    1. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger? (I did a whole post about THAT!) You are right though - and I am a little proud of myself. And I do hope there is a next time... with a nicer person, please?
